Salem Vintage Dances

Salem Vintage Dances
2nd and 4th Fridays
Old Town Hall, 32 Derby Square, Salem, MA

Musicians

The Salem Vintage Dances, which take place twice monthly, started in September 2008, are set in the 19th Century. The dances usually have live music, with between two and four marvelous musicians. Prompting is by Barbara M. Pugliese. Period dress is not required, but is always admired. Dress from various decades of the 19th century is prefectly acceptible. Occasionally there has been a special theme, such as a December Holiday Celebration and Lincoln´s birthday exhibit and performance. Please join us at a future dance!

Special Event:
Exibition of original Lincoln and Johnson campaign banners
to commemorate the 200th anniversary of President Lincoln´s birth.

In February of 2009 The Salem Vintage Dances
coincided with a special event honoring President Lincoln.
The event was organized by Gordon College.
We would like to thank Paul Kenworthy and Laura Eisener for sharing their photos of the event.

Lincoln gives a speech

Gordon College's Institute for Public History sponsored the Lincoln 200th Anniversary Celebration featuring John Sarrouf as Lincoln at Salem's Old Town Hall. On display were original banners used during Lincoln´s 1863 presidential campaign that were found in a Dorchester, Massachusetts church.
