To The First Unitarian Society of West Newton
CVD quite often holds its balls at The First Unitarian
Society of West Newton, 1326 Washington Street (Rt.16), 2 miles east
of Rt. 128/95. It is a large stone church with a square tower
diagonally across from the Newton Police Station. Please look at
the Events Calendar Page to determine if
the ball or event you are interested in is taking place here.
Directions from Rt. 128/95: Take exit 21-A and travel two
miles along Rt. 16 (Washington Street), which will bring you into
West Newton Center. The Unitarian Society will be on your right at
the intersection of Highland and Washington Streets (Note: Along the
way you'll first pass two other churches: St. Barnabas on your left
at 1.7 miles, and shortly afterward a white church on your right
called Lincoln Park Baptist.)
Directions from the Mass. Pike Eastbound: Take Exit 17
(Newton Corner). At the end of the ramp, The Sheraton Tara hotel
will be ahead of you. Stay left as you pass the hotel and cross over
the Mass Pike; move to the center lane to take the middle-left which
continues past the Tara (the far left lane is an on-ramp to the Mass
Pike heading west). Follow the directions above from 'Mass Pike,
heading West'.
Directions from the Mass Pike, heading West: Take Exit 17
(Newton Corner). At the end of the ramp, The Sheraton Tara hotel
will be ahead of you. Taking care not to get back onto the Mass
Pike, head past the hotel onto Washington Street (stay right after
the hotel), which takes you through Newtonville and then into West
Newton Center. The Unitarian Society will be on your left at 1326
Washington Street just beyond the West Newton Cinema and the Fleet
Bank.

Driving Directions To the Trinity Episcopal Church 131 W. Emerson Street, Melrose, MA
DIRECTIONS: Take I-90 E (Mass Pike) to I-95 N/128 N (Exit14) to I-93 S (Exit 37A) toward Boston.
From Route 93S:
take Exit 35 (Winchester Highlands/rt 28/Stoneham/Melrose) Left at end of exit ramp. Left onto Route 28 S/Main Street, heading to
Melrose. Go ¾ mile and turn left onto Pond Street. Pond becomes Wyoming St. (at the intersection with Grimsby’s restaurant).
Continue on Wyoming for 1 mile to Main St. Turn left onto Main St.,Go through 4 sets of lights, passing through center of town.
Turn left at W. Emerson (at the Bank America and Caruso’s Pizza). The church will be on the right in 1/4 mi, after the library.
Parking: is available in the church lot or on the street.
To Studio 665, Woburn
Certain CVD events include a dance class to learn the basic dance steps which will be used
at the ball. Currently they are held at Studio 665 at 17 Campbell St., in Woburn, MA, CVDs
regular rehearsal hall. Please check the Upcoming Events Page to
make certain that a class is scheduled.
From 93 North and South: Take Exit #36 STONEHAM/WOBURN (Montvale Ave) . Turn WEST onto
MONTVALE AVE and travel about 2 miles to its end. Turn RIGHT onto MAIN Street/MA-38. Keep RIGHT
at the intersection. Pass CVS Drug Store. Turn RIGHT onto CAMPBELL Street before Best Gas, Studio
665 is second building on the right.
From 128 North and South: Take Exit #35 WOBURN/WILMINGTON (Route 38). Enter rotary and take exit
onto MAIN Street/MA-38 South traveling about 1 mile. Turn LEFT onto CAMPBELL Street at Best Gas;
Studio 665 is second building on the right.

To the Nahant Town Hall and Nahant Community Center
Nahant is 15 miles (about 40 minutes) north of Boston along the coast.
The Nahant Town Hall is at 334 Nahant Road, Nahant, MA
The Nahant Community Center is at 41 Valley Road, Nahant, MA.
From I-93 North: Take the Ted Williams Tunnel to Route 1A (see below)
From I-93 South: Take the Callahan Tunnel to Route 1A (see below)
From the Mass Pike eastbound: Take the Ted Williams Tunnel to Route 1A (see below).
At the end of the tunnel you will
continue onto route 1A North, you will pass by Logan Airport on the right, as well as the Suffolk Downs
Racetrack (and lots of oil tanks). About 3.4 miles from the tunnel the road will go up a ramp and
reach a rotary. Take the first exit (a right) off this rotary, (staying on 1A North).
[From Route 16: Route 16 ends at this rotary, becoming part of Route 1A.]
In 0.4 miles you will come to another rotary at
Wonderland dog racing park, take the second exit staying on 1A. Continue 2.5
miles through Revere, and go over a bridge; you are
now in Lynn. Route 1A continues straight for another 1.8 miles,
here you will bear right on the Carroll Parkway (following the signs to Nahant/Swampscott), (1A takes
a sharp left at a set of traffic lights at this point), it is still the same
road. There
are two Dunkin Donuts (one on each side) shortly before this turn-off.
In 0.5 miles you will come to another rotary, take the
first exit onto the Nahant Road causeway (at the welcome to Nahant sign),
there should now be water on both sides of you.
Once in Nahant
To get to the Nahant Town Hall: Continue 3.1 miles from the beginning of the Causeway, the Town Hall will be on the left
just after Richland Store (0.4 miles after passing a church), parking is in the rear, use the entrance of the Town Hall at the
rear on the side near the Richland.
To get to the Nahant Community Center: Travel on Nahant Road, 2.6 miles from the beginning of the Causeway, to Ocean
Street (immediately after passing a church on the left), take a right onto Ocean, at the bottom of the hill turn right on Valley
Road; the Community Center is the large brick building at the at the corner of Ocean and Valley Roads, entrance is on
Valley Road. Parking is in the lot around the building.
To the Winchester Town Hall
From the North and West: take Rt. 93 South (which can be reached
from Rt. 95 (Rt. 128)) to Exit 36 ("Montvale Ave., Stoneham, Woburn"). From
the exit ramp, turn right onto Montvale Ave. (heading towards Woburn). At the
first traffic light (which is very soon), turn left onto Washington Street.
Continue on Washington Street for just under 2 miles, at which point the great
red brick Winchester Town Hall will loom unmistakably in front of you. Make a
soft right turn at the corner onto Mt. Vernon Street to pass in front of the
Town Hall. Turn right into the parking lot which is directly across from the
Town Hall. The large entrance at the right end of the Town Hall will take you
directly to the auditorium/ballroom.
From Boston and points South: take Rt. 93 North to Exit 33 (Rt. 28,
"Fellsway West, Winchester"). Follow the rotary to the left, crossing over Rt.
93. Then turn right at the sign for "South Border Road, Winchester". Take
South Border Road through the Middlesex Fells Reservation (just over 2 miles).
As you leave the reservation, you will go straight at the first traffic light
(crossing Highland Ave. - the street you are on changes its name at this point
to Mt Vernon St.). At the next corner, which also has a traffic light
(Washington St.) the great red brick Winchester Town Hall will loom large to
the left. Cross Washington Street and park in the parking lot to the right,
directly across from the Town Hall. The large entrance at the right end of the
Town Hall will take you directly to the auditorium/ballroom. Additional
parking is located in the back of the Town Hall. This may be reached by going
back to the intersection of Mt. Vernon St. and Washington St., then right onto
Washington to go around the Town Hall. From this back parking lot, the
shortest walk to the ballroom entrance is around the far end of the hall (by
the stream).
To the Trinitarian Congregational Church
54 Walden Street, Concord, MA
DIRECTIONS From Route 95/128 North of Boston:
Take the Exit to Route 2 West (exit 52a). At the 3rd traffic light, turn right onto Walden
Street. Follow Walden Street approximately 3/4 of a mile to a stop sign. The church is on the left in the block following the stop sign, at the corners of Walden and Hubbard Street. Parking: is available in the
church lot. There is municipal parking in the lot behind the stores on the left side of the block after
the church; parking on the side and in front of the church and unrestricted parking on Hubbard Street
past the church property.
To the Astors' Beechwood Mansion
Directions from The Boston Area:
Take route 128 to 24 South. Take 24 South through Fall River and past
route I-195 toward Newport. Take exit 1 (route 138); at the end of
ramp, turn right.. Go about ½ mile to the next intersection, veer right,
and stay on 138 for approximately 5 miles. At a Dunkin Donuts (on
right) 138 intersects with 138A (Aquidneck Avenue), turn left onto 138A.
Follow Aquidneck Ave. for about 5 miles, it eventually intersects with
Memorial Boulevard. Turn left onto Memorial Blvd., which bears right
and past Newport's First Beach (on left). Follow Memorial Blvd. up the
hill to the first major intersection, which is Bellevue Avenue. After
turning left onto Bellevue Ave., go approximately 1½ mi. on Bellevue
Ave., Beechwood is on the left just after Rosecliff and just before
Marble House (watch carefully as the sign can be difficult to spot). If
you get to Marble House turn around. The Astors' Beechwood is at 580
Bellevue Ave. on your left.
From Providence and Points NW of Newport:
Take 95 South. Follow 95 South to Exit 9 (Rt. 4). Rt. 4 merges into Rt.1
at a sharp right-hand curve. Follow Rt. 1 for less than 1 mile until you
see a sign for 138 East (to Newport/Jamestown bridges) and first right
hand exit. Follow 138 East over the Jamestown Bridge & Newport Bridge
($2.00 toll). Take 1st exit off bridge "Scenic Newport". Bear right at
bottom of ramp. At 2nd traffic light take a right onto America's Cup
Avenue. Continue on America's Cup Ave, which turns into Memorial
Boulevard. Take right onto Bellevue Avenue. (Talbot's store will be
diagonally in front of you to your right). The Astors' Beechwood is at
580 Bellevue Ave. on your left. After turning left onto Bellevue Ave, go
approximately 1½ mi. on Bellevue Ave., Beechwood is on the left just
after Rosecliff and just before Marble House (watch carefully as the
sign can be difficult to spot). If you get to Marble House turn around.
